Hero Terms of Service
For independent service professionals on the HALOFIX USA platform.
Last updated: July 31, 2026
1. Overview
These Hero Terms of Service (the “Hero Terms”) govern your participation as an independent service professional (“Hero”) on the HALOFIX USA platform operated by HALOFIX USA LLC (“HALOFIX USA,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
These Hero Terms are supplemental to and incorporated by reference with the full HALOFIX USA Hero Agreement, which contains the complete legal terms governing the Hero-platform relationship including independent contractor status, indemnification, insurance requirements, arbitration, anti-circumvention covenant, and Florida-specific compliance.
In the event of any conflict between these Hero Terms and the Hero Agreement, the Hero Agreement controls.
2. Hero Eligibility
To register and participate as a Hero, you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- For the trade categories Florida licenses — plumbing, HVAC, electrical, roofing, and general contracting — hold a valid, active Florida DBPR contractor license covering each category you accept. Appliance repair does not require a Florida license, and no DBPR license is required to accept appliance-repair work
- Maintain general liability insurance per the requirements in the Hero Agreement
- Provide a general liability insurance certificate for HALOFIX USA to verify
- Complete Hero registration at /hero/apply and accept these Hero Terms and the Hero Privacy Policy
Florida's DBPR has no appliance-repair license category, so an appliance Hero may not hold a DBPR license for appliance repair alone. Electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or refrigerator/freezer sealed-system refrigerant work is assigned only to Heroes with the appropriate DBPR license or EPA Section 608 certification. Every appliance Hero is vetted and must provide insurance documentation.
HALOFIX USA does not run background checks. HALOFIX USA LLC has not engaged a consumer reporting agency or screening vendor, and does not order, procure, or pay for consumer reports about Heroes. What HALOFIX USA verifies is your Florida DBPR credential where your trade requires a license, and your general liability insurance certificate. You may voluntarily provide a consumer report or a state-issued criminal history record you already hold; doing so is optional and is not a condition of approval. See the Consumer Report Notice.
3. Hero SMS Communications
By providing your phone number and checking the SMS consent boxes during Hero registration, you agree to receive operational SMS messages from HALOFIX USA LLC related to your Hero activity on the HALOFIX USA platform.
Operational (transactional) Hero SMS includes:
- Job offer notifications with an acceptance window that scales with urgency: 30 minutes for emergency jobs, 1 hour for urgent jobs, and 3 hours for scheduled jobs
- Job assignment confirmations
- Schedule changes from Residents
- Payout / payment notifications
- FL DBPR license renewal reminders, for Heroes who hold a license
- Emergency dispatch alerts
Promotional Hero SMS (separate opt-in) includes:
- Hero recruitment events
- New service category launches
- Platform feature announcements
Frequency: Hero SMS frequency varies based on your job acceptance rate and platform activity.
Opt-out: Reply STOP to any SMS to opt out immediately. Reply HELP for help. You can also email heroes@halofixusa.com or call (786) 550-2580.
Carrier rates: Message and data rates may apply. Supported carriers include but are not limited to AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and Sprint.
Consent is not required to participate as a Hero. Operational dispatch SMS is optional. HALOFIX USA may send job-offer updates by SMS in addition to mobile app push notifications and email when those channels are available.
Mobile data non-sharing: HALOFIX USA LLC will never share Hero phone numbers or SMS opt-in data with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. See the Hero Privacy Policy for full details.
4. Independent Contractor Status
You are registering as an independent contractor, not as an employee, agent, or partner of HALOFIX USA LLC. The full independent-contractor framework is described in the Hero Agreement, including the IRS 20-factor test compliance and Florida Statute Chapter 489 contractor licensing.
5. SMS Opt-Out and Account Termination
SMS opt-out (Reply STOP) does not terminate your Hero account. If you opt out, HALOFIX USA will stop sending operational dispatch SMS and will attempt to reach you through available push notifications and email instead.
Delivery is not guaranteed on any channel. A job offer may expire or be accepted by another Hero before you see it.
Account termination is governed by the Hero Agreement Section 10 (Cancellation and Termination). Either party may terminate at any time with written notice.
