Every HALOFIX Hero is Vetted. Here's How.
We don't just list any contractor. Every single Hero on HALOFIX passes our 5-step vetting process:
Step 1: DBPR License Verification
What we check:
- Active license status on Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation website
- No license suspensions or revocations
- License matches the service type (electrician, plumber, HVAC)
- License is not lapsed
Why it matters: Unlicensed contractors are illegal in Florida and void your home warranty.
Step 2: FDLE Registry & Records Screening
What we verify:
- FDLE sex offender registry
- Florida public court records
- Theft/fraud convictions
- Restraining orders (available in FL public records)
Why it matters: You're letting this person into your home. We take safety seriously.
Step 3: Insurance Verification
What we confirm:
- General liability insurance ($1M minimum)
- Worker's compensation (if applicable)
- Insurance is active and current
- Contractor is named on the policy
Why it matters: If a Hero damages your home or gets injured, insurance covers the liability. Uninsured contractors = your liability.
Step 4: Customer Reviews
What we track:
- Ratings across HALOFIX and Google
- Response quality (professional communication)
- Minimum 4.5/5 stars to remain on platform
Why it matters: Real Residents validate that Heroes deliver quality work.
Step 5: Annual Renewal
What we do:
- Re-verify license status
- Confirm insurance is still active
- Review any negative reviews or complaints
- Deactivate if status changes
Why it matters: A valid license expires. Insurance gets cancelled. We keep Heroes accountable annually.
